Writing the Land: Virginia
Writing the Land: Virginia is a collection of poems celebrating conserved lands from across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Each of the 12 chapters contain poems, illustrations, photographs, and information featuring conserved properties from a variety of land conservation organizations or indigenous tribes.
This newly published volume celebrates the beauty and value of conserved lands of all kinds including public wildlife management areas, conservation easements, city and riverside trails, park systems, and shoreline farms. Explore lands you’ve not yet seen or re-explore familiar territory through poetry and art and be inspired by this diverse portrait of place.

Writing the Land: Windblown I
Writing the Land: Windblown I is a national anthology of poetry published in 2022 featuring 25 poets inspired by the conserved lands of 11 land trusts from across the country.
Capital Region Land Conservancy participated with 4 local poets who took to the forests, rivers, and fields that we protect. With broad creative freedom, these poets spent time on these lands, learned about their history, and dreamed about their future. Ultim
ately, 10 poems exploring these lands have been published across 16 pages in the 2022 edition of the Windblown I anthology.
CRLC’s poems are also illuminated by 9 illustrations and a full-page illustrated map by Richmond-based artist Katie McBride, who also designed a beautiful t-shirt for CRLC.
